DBA by case research

Welcome to the DBA by case research
The Gibaran Graduate School of Business (GGSB) DBA by case research is a work-based professional doctorate programme that uses practical case research methods to produce a thesis about management practices.
Conducted over approximately two and a half years of intense part-time study, it is a professional doctorate for managers or management professionals that will enhance the professional development of practitioners. It is a research-based management development programme which captures the features of a PhD which are precision of thought and expression, and an awareness of what others have previously written about a topic. It also makes a significant contribution to management practices and policy.
The GGSB DBA programme is distinctive for its focus on case research rather than the esoteric research often done at other business schools. The programme is in line with London Business School's research investigations which suggest that research which observe(s) organisational behaviour and then draw(s) conclusions on what it finds ... is  much more likely to be applied in the real world than any other kind (The Economist 28 August 2007).

The GGSB DBA programme has three modules of 'activities' in which candidates are carefully guided through the steps of producing a doctoral thesis. Candidates can exit the programme with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma after the first and second modules if they wish. These awards and the DBA are accredited by the South Australian government within the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Professor Chad Perry, the Chairman of the Academic Board of GGSB and an internationally recognised case research specialist, and other GGSB supervisors in Australia will monitor the progress of candidates by working closely with local co-supervisors in the candidates' country and will also meet for regular research-in-progress workshops.

I welcome you to the case research DBA which has already resulted in many successful doctorates.

Exit points of the DBA

Exit points are available as follows:

A Graduate Certificate in Management is awarded if:
 (a) Module 1 has been satisfactorily completed but not at doctoral standard, and as a        result the candidate had been refused permission to proceed to Module 2; or
 (b) the candidate has passed Module 1 but does not wish to proceed to Module 2.

A Graduate Diploma in Management is awarded if:
 (a) Modules 1 and 2 have been satisfactorily completed but not at doctoral level and the candidate has as a result been refused permission to proceed to Module 3; or
